Panasonic SD-YD250 Breadmaker

The Panasonic SD-YD250 Breadmaker is a very high quality machine that will deliver perfectly baked loaves of bread that please most consumers. It retails for just under $200 and while consumers who bring it home tend to be quite satisfied with the bread it delivers, there is a lot of stiff competition on the market right now. How does this one really stack up?

The big perk to purchasing the SD-YD250 bread maker by Panasonic is the capacity. Most bread machines will make loaves up to 2 pounds, but this one will make 2.5 pound loaves as well. For a large family or serving other large groups of people, this extra size on the loaf is invaluable. For others who aren’t feeding that many people, making a larger loaf will make it last longer so the need to bake more doesn’t occur as often.

Yet, with that larger loaf you get a larger unit to accommodate in the kitchen. This is one of the larger units on the market, taking up about 14 inches of counter space in width. If you have the room for it or can store it away somewhere when not needed, it may not be a bad model to look into considering the larger loaf capacity.

Other features of the Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Breadmaker include options for different levels of crust darkness and a 13 hour timer delay. This makes the machine more convenient because you can set the unit to start baking at exactly the right time to have it done when you want to eat it. This allows you to serve completely fresh, piping hot bread on the table after dinner, for snacks, or for the children when they return home from school.

The preprogrammed options on the Panasonic automatic bread maker include 5 basic bread settings as well as special modes for pizza, down, sandwich bread, and even raisin baked breads. There are around 10 different baking modes programmed and ready to use with the simple push of a button.

There are units out there selling in this price range or even for less that offer a lot more preprogrammed bread options. Panasonic makes up for that by including a nice recipe book with over 40 recipes for breads that can be made in this machine. Even though they are not all programmed for you, they do give you a lot of great ideas of how to use the machine to create a wide variety of creative bread recipes.

The machine also protects your bread from getting burned and your home from catching fire by shutting itself off automatically after baking. It does not have the warming function that many other modern models are including. It is also protected in case of a power failure.

What Panasonic SD-YD250 breadmachine reviews tend to love about this unit is the rapid bake cycle which cuts down the baking time for any type of bread. White breads can bake in less than 2 hours, while you will need around 3 hours for whole grain or whole wheat varieties.

Again, not the fastest rapid cycle you will find on today’s market, but the Panasonic SD-YD250 Breadmaker is still a competitive force on the market. It delivers perfectly baked bread, even with this rapid cycle.
